PROVERB PRACTICALS

Proverbs 2:9, Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. Faith is rewarded with understanding. Faith keeps the son on the path. The father instructs the son, the son obeys the father, perhaps without understanding, but he obeys by faith. This is his father and his father will not tell him wrong. His father is a shield to him. His father preserves his way. He knows that his father instructs him for his benefit and he obeys for father knows best. What is the result of obedience to the father's instruction? The result is understanding. By walking the path of faith in his father he comes to understand why his father instructed him so. He understands that his father's instruction was wrapped in the principles of righteousness, justice and evenness or fairness. By walking in the path of faith in his father he begins to see the guiding principles of his father's walk and his father's instruction. And this walk of faith in his father is simply to be the origin of a walk of faith that the son is to have in God the Father. Why? Because his father is walking by faith in God the Father and his walk is rewarded by understanding. Where is the faith of the son then to be born? It is to be born in the home where a godly father instructs a son and the son exhibits his first faith in his earthly father. So the home is to be the preparatory school of faith. That is where it is to be taught to the child. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. Note the understanding that comes of every good path. By knowing the path of judgment that God keeps, the son will come to understand every good path. This means that the son will have discernment. By knowing the truth and the truth alone he is equipped to know what is not truth. He is equipped to know the counterfeit. For in understanding every good path he will know what is a bad path. |
