PROVERB PRACTICALS

Proverbs 30:17, The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it. Ravens, go pick that son's eye out and feed it to the young eagles! We know what God thinks about this horrible sin when we read what he instructed Moses in the law to do about the man who curses his father or his mother. Leviticus 20:9, For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him. God feels about this sin as he does about the sin of blasphemy against Him, a sin worthy of death. Can one curse the instrument of his being or the creator of his being and not suffer death? Leviticus 24:16, And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation (it takes a village) shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death. This reveals to us that God hates rebellion and cursing ones' parents is rebellion. Cursing ones parents takes form in resisting the God given authority of a father or a mother. Cursing ones parents is revealed when contempt for instruction is evident. It turns to mocking instruction. Cursing ones parents is most displayed in disobedience to their word. This class, this generation has swelled in our day. This generation is in vogue today. This generation is the norm today in that our children are threatened with the mind of today that it is not only right to mock authority but it is encouraged. We must teach the book! We must teach the line upon line, precept upon precept of the word of God if we are to expect our children to not be counted once among this generation. |
